WHO’S YOUR HERO
An ode to Prince Charlie, was years ago sung, Through the highlands of Scotland, it echoed and rung. These words for our Lord, we should readily claim, But could we with honesty, sing them the same?:- "Will you no’ come back again?" "Will you no’ come back again?" Better loved you canna’ be, Will you no’ come back again?" Do we long for our Saviour’s, promised return? Are our thoughts for Him eager, and do our hearts yearn? Is He loved just as well, as He really could be? Or is it more frequently, "What about me?" We know that we’re human, and easily led, But is it by Him, who on Calvary bled? Do we give Him our all, each Sunday in prayer, And spend the week busy, forgetting He’s there? Is the love that we give Him, the best that we can? Or is the gift that we bring, just an unwanted lamb? The parts of our life, that we think we can spare, To try to convince Him, we really do care? We might turn our worship, into some sort of art, Forgetting that God, sees the depths of our heart; And values more highly, The faltering prayer, That’s prayed with the longing, that He might be there. If we ask Him, He’ll guide us, and teach us anew, How to love Him more fully – refocus our view. When we focus on Him, and the gift He did give, Then His Spirit will show, how for Him we can live. And living for Him, we’ll more honestly say, That we love Him the best, That we can every day, That for His return, we both long and await, As Charlie was hailed, by that poet of late. © 3/9/98
