Love without strings to bind you in debt,
Lets you fly free as a birdie, and yet,
Like a kite on one string, attached safely to land,
Thus are we tethered, by God, to His hand.
We may fly just as high or as far as we dare,
But wherever we go, God’s love still meets us there,
And if we are falling, afraid and alone,
We feel the string tugging, and drawing us home,
His love does not bind, like a chain weighing down,
He does not await with a glare and a frown,
He urges us onward, an upward in Him,
He came to release us from the dark chains of sin. 17/1
He has plans for our future, to fill us with hope,
He wants us to triumph in life, not ‘just cope’.
He puts no condition nor price on His love,
Save that we accept Whom He sent from above.
And yet He still loves those who cannot believe,
It’s just His full blessings they do not receive,
Not that He withholds them, or denies them in spite,
But how can one see, if one won’t accept Light?
How can they accept all the love He’s to give,
If they cannot believe that for us He did live,
He lived, and He died, and He rose once again,
It was simply for Love that He chose all that pain.
Yet He does not chide us, nor heap us with blame,
There is no condemnation for those in His Name,
He gives His love freely, with His Blood it flowed down,
And we are the jewels, shaped like thorns, in His crown.
He looked o’er the crowd, down the years, to our time,
In the faces He saw, there was yours, there was mine,
And He smiled, and He blessed us, and bade us draw near,
He wanted that always, these words we would hear,
“You are loved, you are Mine, and you always will be,
You are safe and secure, when you’re rooted in Me.
For I am the Doorway, the Truth and the Light,
You must live by My Spirit, and not your own might.
You must give My love freely to those you will meet,
Must pass it on gladly as each other you greet,
Love the people you meet, because I’m your King,
Let your love be like Mine, without charge, without strings.”
