The love of a father, you may not have known,
For there was a time when love seldom was shown,
But the love of your Father, has always been there,
And many the ways, He has shown you His care.
He planned for the day and He planned for the night,
That our bodies might rest when the sun goes from sight,
He planned summer and winter and the soft autumn breeze,
He gave flowers and birds, rippling streams, shady trees.
He moved heaven and earth, when we killed His Son,
To show us that truly, the work has been done,
To close up, the rift, betwixt us and Him,
The rift that had opened, when we asked in sin.
He pours out His love, on those who’ll receive,
And the ones who are fearful, cause His heart to grieve,
For His love is gentle, it’s faithful and true,
He’s waiting; He’s longing, to share it with you.
His love is the pattern, which we should embrace,
There is only acceptance, never scorn on His face,
His love is so steadfast, so patient, so kind,
He’ll just keep on loving, till His love you find.
If it takes a lifetime, for us to find truth,
He will not rebuke us, for ‘wasting our youth’,
He’ll cheer with the angels, rejoicing above,
For the soul that’s now living, in their Father’s love.
