HARRY’S BLESSING
The Christ-child was born on that first Christmas day, In a stable mean and bare; But Christ can be born in a heart every day; When someone has room for Him there. And though we may feel that we wish we could die; That life has no meaning or zest, We know that His love never passes us by, That He works all things for our best. His love doesn’t stop when we let go of hope, He doesn’t just draw far away; He gives us the courage to hold on and cope; He has promised that with us; He’ll stay. If we’ve served Him a day, or we’ve served Him a year, Or a lifetime to Him we have given; It’s His perfect love that casts out our fear; It is free !! – Not a payment, for which we have striven! It may seem on this earth, that we’ve had far more pain, Than any one person could bear; But our God meets our needs, again and again; And our burdens He’ll willingly share. He’ll carry our burden, and give us His peace, If we can only let go; If we from our striving and reasoning, can cease; Then His love, and His care, He can show. So rest in His arms, and rest in His love, That His comfort within you might grow, And His Spirit descending, on wings like a dove, Will ensure that His peace you will know. © 26/12/99
