Living Witness
Let my feet, Your mountain wander, Let me taste Your dainties sweet, Let me linger in Your Presence, Till my soul with You does meet. You have blessings I have witnessed, Spirit’s wine to fill my cup, But before my soul can taste it, My spirit, first, of You, must sup. I must taste Your honeyed sweetness, Taste and see the Lord is good, Feed upon Your Word and Spirit, Fill my heart with heavenly food. From my heart will others feed then, Taste the manna from above, Taste and see that all about them, Are the signs of God’s great love. Hear the birds His praises singing, See the flowers His beauty show; Feel the love that flows from in me, Till they come, their Lord to know. I must be Your living witness, Let Your life be seen in me, Show Your laws are not to bind us, But You came to set us free. From the laws of sin and sickness, From the grief of death and pain, All our ills You took upon You, Then You died, and rose again. You have conquered all life’s sorrow, Offered joy and peace once more, But we must choose if we’ll accept it, Or turn our backs, Your gift ignore. Give us wisdom, Lord we pray now, Teach us as we walk Your Way, Help us draw more children to You, As they see us day by day. May our lives be open books, Lord, Easily read by any man, Showing how You drew us to You, Telling, if we can, they can. Help me not to make them stumble, Cause their steps to go awry, Help me as I stand before them, To show them more of You than I. I would be Your living witness, I would live my life for You, But I know I can’t achieve this, ‘Less Your Spirit, helps me to. Father take this life I offer, Live Your life and work through me, Let my self become transparent, Till ‘tis but Your light they see. Lord, I lay my life before You, Thank You that You made me Thine, I am but a thread You weave now, In Your heavenly design. When we see what You are crafting, Like a tapestry displayed, As we blend with one another, All creation now arrayed. Living witness all around us, Nature, people, all combine, Pointing out to all who’d listen, God is good, His love divine. © 8/2/03
