Second Grandchild
Every child is different, No two are the same, Though they share their parents, And have the same last name. Each will grow uniquely, Special in their way, Though they travel side by side, In living day by day. You may not be the first born, Perhaps you won’t be last, But we see your uniqueness, As the days and weeks go past. God has breathed life in you, Marked you as His own, All your life’s adventures, He has already known. He has called you His child, Claimed you from above, You can always trust that He Will fill you with His love. You will have your Grandma’s love, As much as your big brother, For every Grandchild can be sure, They’re loved by their Grandmother. To me you each are special, You’re precious, you’re a treasure, And in my heart, and in my life, You’re loved beyond all measure. So though your birth came second, You’re not ‘second’ in my heart, For every Grandchild that I have, There is a special part. It’s born and grows with each of you, This love will not be spared, There’s love enough for all of you, Not ‘one cup’ to be shared. So as you grow and flourish, My love for you will too, My precious, darling Grandchild, Whatever you may do. I pray God’s blessings on you, His love and guiding hand, May He lead you and protect you, And teach you true to stand. © 15/2/08
