ROYALTY

 

Do you think of yourself as a princess?

A child of the living King?

Do you come to His presence rejoicing,

Trust His love for every small thing?

 

Do you see in yourself what He values?

Why He died; to new life to you give?

Do you know that He sees you as worthy,

With Him in heaven to live?

 

Do you think of your clothing as regal?

Those garments that eye cannot see;

Or knock back the gift that is offered,

Saying, "No Lord, that just isn’t me."

 

Do you feel in your heart you are humble?

Not daring His riches to claim;

Remember each gift you refuse to receive,

Crucifies Him again and again.

 

He died not to show out His power,

Though His power was truly displayed.

He came and He died to rejoin us,

To the God in whose image we're made.

 

God made us to be like His children,

To rule over land, sea and sky;

But before He could truly adopt us,

It required that a scapegoat must die.

 

Christ came and He dwelt here among us,

To teach us and show us the way,

God's Son, our 'big brother 'and Saviour,

Agreed that our debt, He would pay.

 

King of kings, Lord of lords is our brother,

The Son of our Heavenly King,

Like the prodigal son on returning,

We allow Him to give us His ring.

 

His seal of approval is on us,

He wraps us in His righteous robe,

He covers our feet with His gospel,

And feeds us with Heavenly hope.

 

He calls us His prince and princesses,

And His love for His children shines through,

Accepting this love and this honour,

Gives Him more than the things that we do.

 

We must think of ourselves not so highly,

It allows us to others put down;

But remember the lost and the lonely,

Are the jewels we will wear in our crown.

 

For royalty comes with a duty,

That the secret of life we must share;

As we take up our regal position,

We need Jesus’ compassion and care.

 

So we who’ve accepted our Saviour,

Must also accept all His Grace,

Not value our merits too highly,

But remember He gives us our place.

 

He places us up in the heavens,

To claim our seat by His side,

So remember our royal anointing,

And His Kingdom shall not be denied.
