Do my doubts flail You, like the accuser’s whip?
Or are You, my Lord, so strong,
That You feel only compassion
At my fearful tremblings?
Do You stand before the throne of God,
Excusing my faults and weaknesses
With the loving cover
Of Your poured out, precious, Blood?
How often I condemn myself with my failings,
Yet You remind me there is now, no condemnation,
For those who are in Christ Jesus,
And walk according to His Way.
Quickly, the accuser comes to remind me,
That my walk is never quite
As perfect as it should be,
I am not perfect as the Christ I claim to follow.
You do not require perfection, but submission,
Perfecting is Your task, not mine,
I must renew my mind, daily
With Your Word, and leave the rest to You.
I do not fail when I cannot do Your job,
I set myself too hard a task,
You would have me relax in Your love,
And learn to enjoy Your Holy Presence.
Daily You pray for me, in love, before the throne,
Daily, You share with God, your love for me,
I am loved of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
I am loved, as are each of His children, as if we were the only one.
Precious Jesus, help me to accept this love,
To know it in my heart, and mind and soul.
Help me know the freedom I have to enjoy it,
That I might praise You in all strength and love.
Thank You, Amen
