Knight of God One great day, a knight came through, His armour shining, not; He had a different job to do, A manger was His cot. He’d food to eat and clothes to wear, To learn the way of man, Of sadness, worry, toil and care; For God had had a plan. He knew of satan’s wily trick, His aim to make Him fall, He must resist, to God’s way stick, If He would save us all. He walked into the river’s flow, Said, "John, now baptise Me.", John did, though saying, "But You know, I ought to bow to Thee." The Spirit of the Lord, that day, Descended like a dove, And Jesus heard His Father say, "My Son, whom I well love." And now the Spirit took His hand, ‘Twas time to lead Him out, He’d lead Him to a barren place, To learn, His task about. He wandered in the wilderness, Alone yet not alone; Still satan plotted for success, And God heard from His throne. He heard His Son get tempted sore, To take an easier way, And heard Him quote from Scripture more, That to God’s truth, He’d stay. He walked out from that barren scene, A man, yet stronger still, Upon God’s Spirit, He would lean, And always do God’s will. He taught God’s love abounding, To any who would hear, The priest’s found it astounding, The crowds He would draw near. For hungry hearts were daring, To not put first the law, These stories He was sharing, Showed Father love, - for sure. His hands reached out with healing, With love, forgiveness, more, He showed that God had feeling, And loved mankind for sure. But it was not enough to save Mankind; that He just came, And so upon the Cross He gave, His lifeblood, and His Name. The perfect sacrifice was made, Upon the Cross that day, Our sins upon His back were laid, He opened up the way. As God’s heart tore apart with pain, And love for all of man, His blood was shed so we could gain, God’s sonship; -- ‘twas His plan. He did not stay inside the grave, Death could not keep Him down; Instead fresh hope to us He gave, As He rose to claim His crown. He’s seated by the Father’s side, To urge and pray us come; Till one day a white horse He’ll ride, And come to take us home. Our knight with armour shining white, Though dipped in Blood it be, His sword will cleave the wrong from right, Claim those whom He’s set free A freedom He has offered all, No charge, no cost a must, We simply, "Lord", His Name need call, And in our hearts, Him trust. If you have always longed for, A love that you can trust, Thought, "I’m too bad, ill, ugly, poor"; Your thinking, He’ll adjust. He’ll show you through His eyes and heart, The view He sees of you, And how He’ll let you play a part, Bring with you others too. For we must be His body now, Till He returns to earth, His Spirit comes to show us how, To see, as Him, our worth. Our Knight of God, is waiting, Till all should know His Name, Then shall the earth and heavens sing, As He comes, His own, to claim. © 3/3/03
Knight of God
One great day, a knight came through,
His armour shining, not;
He had a different job to do,
A manger was His cot.
He’d food to eat and clothes to wear,
To learn the way of man,
Of sadness, worry, toil and care;
For God had had a plan.
He knew of satan’s wily trick,
His aim to make Him fall,
He must resist, to God’s way stick,
If He would save us all.
He walked into the river’s flow,
Said, "John, now baptise Me.",
John did, though saying, "But You know,
I ought to bow to Thee."
The Spirit of the Lord, that day,
Descended like a dove,
And Jesus heard His Father say,
"My Son, whom I well love."
And now the Spirit took His hand,
‘Twas time to lead Him out,
He’d lead Him to a barren place,
To learn, His task about.
He wandered in the wilderness,
Alone yet not alone;
Still satan plotted for success,
And God heard from His throne.
He heard His Son get tempted sore,
To take an easier way,
And heard Him quote from Scripture more,
That to God’s truth, He’d stay.
He walked out from that barren scene,
A man, yet stronger still,
Upon God’s Spirit, He would lean,
And always do God’s will.
He taught God’s love abounding,
To any who would hear,
The priest’s found it astounding,
The crowds He would draw near.
For hungry hearts were daring,
To not put first the law,
These stories He was sharing,
Showed Father love, - for sure.
His hands reached out with healing,
With love, forgiveness, more,
He showed that God had feeling,
And loved mankind for sure.
But it was not enough to save
Mankind; that He just came,
And so upon the Cross He gave,
His lifeblood, and His Name.
The perfect sacrifice was made,
Upon the Cross that day,
Our sins upon His back were laid,
He opened up the way.
As God’s heart tore apart with pain,
And love for all of man,
His blood was shed so we could gain,
God’s sonship; -- ‘twas His plan.
He did not stay inside the grave,
Death could not keep Him down;
Instead fresh hope to us He gave,
As He rose to claim His crown.
He’s seated by the Father’s side,
To urge and pray us come;
Till one day a white horse He’ll ride,
And come to take us home.
Our knight with armour shining white,
Though dipped in Blood it be,
His sword will cleave the wrong from right,
Claim those whom He’s set free
A freedom He has offered all,
No charge, no cost a must,
We simply, "Lord", His Name need call,
And in our hearts, Him trust.
If you have always longed for,
A love that you can trust,
Thought, "I’m too bad, ill, ugly, poor";
Your thinking, He’ll adjust.
He’ll show you through His eyes and heart,
The view He sees of you,
And how He’ll let you play a part,
Bring with you others too.
For we must be His body now,
Till He returns to earth,
His Spirit comes to show us how,
To see, as Him, our worth.
Our Knight of God, is waiting,
Till all should know His Name,
Then shall the earth and heavens sing,
As He comes, His own, to claim.
