Things My Father Taught Me

THINGS MY FATHER’S TAUGHT ME

He taught me to stand on my own two feet,

So that He could teach me,

That I couldn’t stand alone,

At all;

But need to lean

On Him.

He taught me to trust in the love of others,

So that I might truly see,

That there is no love so strong,

As the love;

Which He gives

To me.

He taught me to lean on the faith of the strong,

That He might show me,

How it would pull me along,

Faster than He;

Was needing me

To go.

He taught me to rest in His arms of love,

That I might learn the truth,

Of love unconditional,

No strings attached;

No price to pay,

But that which He has paid already.

He teaches me daily, in ways I can understand,

How to walk closer to Him,

Listen more clearly to His voice,

To trust;

In His love

For me.

He will teach me until the day I die,

Then gather me in His arms,

Closer than I can imagine,

To pure;

Unadulterated,

Love.
