With arms wide open, He waits for you,
It soundsbizarre, but yes, it’s true,
The Lord who made this earth and sky,
So longed for you, He had to die.
He gave His life, to pay our debt,
He knew we’d turn away, and yet,
He did not hold His life so high,
He could not lay it down and die.
Immortal God, who made this earth,
Chose that His Son, have mortal birth,
Should suffer hurt, and scorn, and pain,
Be crucified, then rise again.
He’d pay the debt we could not pay,
Upon the Cross, His life He’d lay,
He’d do it to appease the law
We could not keep; our plight He saw.
He saw it all through eyes of Love,
While He was One with God above,
He chose to give it all away,
And not, aloof, in Heaven stay.
His eyes they opened wide with tears,
As He looked down through all the years,
And saw, with man, the devil play,
Cried, “Father, let Me go and pay.
For only sinless Blood can break,
The chains and bonds this fiend does make,
And I will give My all to free,
And bring Your children back to Thee.”
His arms spread wide upon the Cross,
He did not count His death a loss,
For He would break the chains of hell,
Not just for Him; but us as well.
That all who in Him, put their trust,
Although their ‘shells’ might end as dust,
Yet still they’d live with Christ, their Lord,
For them, now life would be assured.
And safe within these arms spread wide,
Within His love, we will abide,
For tears and death will no more reign,
And sadness we’ll not know again.
We will forever sing His praise,
We’ll breathe His love, for endless days,
Amidst that saintly, heavenly throng,
“You’re Holy, Lord”, will be our song.
So while on earth, let us declare,
The things we will be singing there,
”Our God is good, our God is great”,
Our God has opened wide the gate.
And He’s invited all to come,
He’s never said it’s just for some,
He bids us all to come inside,
And welcomes us, arms open wide.
