Precious soldiers, battle torn, Quietly fighting still; May be weary, sick and worn, Still they do His will. Handing out some words of cheer, They step into the fray, To those who carry doubts or fear; They will show His way. Love for Christ has kept them, Faithful day by day, Though trials may beset them, In His will they stay. And though a "baby" Christian, On Christ his sights must set; A faithful older Christian, Can help him not forget. Can show just by his living, The way our life should be. In thoughts and deeds and giving, First place to only Thee. When progress comes and change is due, In church as in the world, Let’s celebrate the ‘older crew’, With army flag unfurled. © 2-4/2/98
