This poem was inspired by the verse 17 from Zephaniah chapter 3 this verse really spoke to my heart about how God feels about us individually.

The Lord Sings
O, Lord Jehovah, mighty King,
To You through time Your people sing,
To show our love, our praise, our joy,
We try our talents to employ.
We write our songs, our poems too,
To send our praises up to You;
In Zephaniah chapter three,
It says You also sing of me !!
When I first read verse seventeen,
I never thought that it might mean,
That when You sing Your joyful song,
My name is mentioned right along
With Moses, Abraham and kin,
With all who chose to let You in;
You welcome us with loving care,
And sing with joy, because we’re there !
I’m in Your song, Lord what a thought !
I must not think more than I ought,
Of I and me, for so taught Paul.
It’s not, he said, that we are small,
But simply, that we’re part of You,
Should honour You in all we do
And know each member has a part,
The right to please our Father’s heart.
That I can please my Lord and King,
That I can cause Your heart to sing,
That I am mentioned in Your song
And in Your heart, Lord, I belong,
Are truths You try to help me know,
Through precious saints Your love You show,
But far above the words they speak, Your Spirit came, for me, to seek.
For me Your Son died on the Cross-,
For me, You did not count it loss,
For me, He suffered, died and bled,
Upon the ground, His lifeblood shed.
He did all this and then did more,
He rose and opened Heaven’s door,
He came before You with His prize,
Your song was smiling in His eyes.
He brought to You Your great delight,
And rescued us from endless night,
It always was Your plan to save,
To rescue us from satan’s grave.
You will not stay Your voice or glee,
You choose to sing in joy o’er me,
And all who would, may come to You,
And know they’ll cause Your singing too.
