Taking Christ's Love to the Hurting

TAKING CHRIST’S LOVE TO THE HURTING

 

Pain builds a jagged scar, around the wounded heart,

Fear adds a brick, or two to help it grow;

If to remove this wall, you’d make a start,

Then you must be prepared, Christ’s love to show.

A love that does not judge, nor yet condemn,

Nor spout a hundred saintly platitudes.

If you would soothe the hurt; bring Christ to them,

And simply show them; that His love is good.

They’ve heard before ~ the words that ‘sound so right’,

They’ve seen the ‘sweet and saintly’ hypocrite,

But these are naught, while saints with saints still fight,

Kind words and cruel actions just don’t fit.

If we would bring these hurting ones to Jesus,

We must do as our Lord has done,

Not wait until they all come crawling to us,

Take Him to where they’re waiting to be won.

For fear and pain can blind eyes to His goodness,

Make strong, tall walls, to cower ‘safe’ behind,

To hide, and drown, in sorrow and in sadness,

Until someone a chink in them will find.

But Jesus shines His light in every crevice,

If we will only follow close to Him;

He’ll show the place where there is still a weakness,

A chance, to pour the love of God, right in.

For weakness is the strength of God, our Father,

And Jesus’ love’s more powerful than pain,

And it’s this love, I’m sure that He would rather,

We offer to His little lambs again.
