Are we walking on water as Peter once tried? Do we look at the waves and then sink? We must focus on Jesus, the Lord crucified, And not on what others might think. Lord, lift our vision. Are we off’ring the healing that God has in store? Or simply a pat on the back? Do we tell to the world, that Jesus has more? Or look at the courage we lack? Lord, lift our vision. Do we seek out the lonely, the hurt and the lost? Or stay in our own little patch? Do we reach out to help them and not count the cost? Or sit on the sidelines and watch? Lord, lift our vision. Can we take all our troubles and place at the Cross? Or try a solution to find? When we try to cling to them, it’s us face the loss, As we churn them around in our mind. Lord, lift our vision. We ponder Your Word, and we humbly pray, And most reverential our talk; Then we close up our Bibles and put them away, And continue to walk our own walk. Lord, lift our vision. But wait just a minute, it’s easy to ask, For our vision to be raised up by You, But wasn’t it Jesus who gave us the task, To praise you in all that we do? We’ll lift our vision! You were beaten and scourged and raised up on high, Raised up, so all men could see. Lifted aloft, so that all could draw nigh, And focus their vision on Thee. We’ll lift our vision! So do we despise it, and make it as nought, The sacrifice God chose to make? Or act, think and say, the things that we ought, And His way, endeavour to take? We’ll lift our vision! When we lift our vision, and focus on Thee, Instead of on trouble and strife; When the world looks to us it is Jesus they’ll see, And be drawn to Him and new life. We lift our vision to Christ. © 16-17/9/97
