There’s a world of hurting people, that the naked eye won’t see,
There’s a world of wicked sinners, who are just like you and me,
There’s a world that’s lost and lonely, and is drowning in despair,
And a world where hearts are crying, "Why can’t somebody just care?"
To this world there came a Saviour, with His heart so filled with love,
That He chose to come and lead us, to our home in heaven above,
And He bade that once we know Him, we would share His love around,
So that all could taste salvation, and know where it might be found.
For He called us and He chose us, and He turned and sent us out,
With an order that we tell the world, what His kingdom is about,
Not rules and laws to bind us, nor commands to keep us down,
But joy, and love for others, who’ll be jewels in our crown.
For as we learn to love the Lord, and feel His love flow through,
We’ll find that it’s a natural thing, that we love others too,
And from this love, a river flows, that not a thing can stem,
For from our hearts more love flows out, as we pour it into them. 29/9
He called us not to judge them, nor yet condemn ourself,
He wants us to commune with Him, and share His Father’s wealth,
To walk and talk in fellowship, with the God by Whom we’re made,
As Adam did in the Garden, ‘ere he and Eve had strayed.
We may not be a preacher, who can stand before a crowd,
And shout the gospel message, in a voice both strong and loud,
But we can be a neighbour, with a friendly cup of tea,
And show God’s love in what we do, then share quite quietly.
A gentle word, a kindly touch, a loving hug or two,
And soon they will be questioning, why you do just what you do;
An open invitation, then, for you to share your Lord,
To offer them an opening, that they might ‘come aboard’.
His arms are wide, His love is strong, there’s always room for more,
He stands and beckons, "Come, join Me. We’ll feast upon the shore."
Don’t tell them what they ‘must give up’, or what they ‘shouldn’t do’,
Just tell them of the love He has, and how it has touched you.
For love will draw a hurting soul, and bind a broken heart,
But He wants their invitation, to allow His work to start,
So tell them what you know of Him, and all that He can do,
He’ll do the rest, for telling them, and loving them, is all He asks of you.
This is His ‘Great Commission’, handed down so long ago,
To those who stood around Him, and all who would Him know;
And if we would take up His Name, and claim to walk His Way,
We must walk in our Commission, until our dying day.
