Comparisons

What were you before you came to Christ?
Were you worse or better than me?
What does it matter; we both were lost,
Before His grace we would see.

How many times a day, do you pray?
What words do you use, and how long?
Who can decide who’s prayer is the best,
It’s only in Him we are strong!

How do we know, which church ‘has it right’?
With our doctrines, traditions and rules,
If we fuss and we fret over these little bits,
Then the devil has us for fools.

For Christ has said, "Come, believe upon Me,
Confess out My Name and you’re Mine."
But we worry and fret over who did what, where;
And often waste God’s precious time.

"The time for the harvest is now," says the Lord,
"Make haste, hurry up, bring them in;
And don’t ask the wheat if it’s ready or not,
For it’s lost and confused in its sin.

For like wheat ‘neath the scythe, when the harvest is due,
There are sinners, who’re ready to fall,
When they’re cut with the Sword of My Spirit and love,
They’ll surrender and give Me their all.

And the more they are lost, then the more they will love,
And with ardour reach out to their kin,
For they know the sweet pain and deception there is,
In a life given over to sin."

For it’s not who we were, and it’s not where we’ve been,
That will matter to God in the end;
For all He’ll require on that great Judgement Day,
Is that Jesu’s our Saviour and Friend.
