We dangle over a precipice, but for the Grace of God,
We’d slip every time we place our feet, but we tread where He has trod;
He leads us through the dangers, not takes them from our path,
He daily shows us of His love, and shields us from His wrath.
He guides us as our Shepherd, and gently leads us on;
He knows that though we falter, we must go where He has gone;
The way may not be easy, He never said ‘twould be;
But we must set our sights on Him, when obstacles we see.
Though enemies attack us, and try to turn us back;
We’ll find in Him the courage, that in ourselves we lack;
We lay upon the altar; our will, out heart, our mind;
He gives to us His treasure, such peace within we find.
He brings us into meadows, to let us rest apace;
Then gently He propels us, to get back in the race.
He will not leave us friendless, to blindly find our way,
But gives us guides and signposts, to help us day by day.
We’ll find Him on the mountains, where our spirits long to go;
But also, when we need Him, in dark valleys down below.
And our joy in walking with Him, will override all pain;
We’ll find our greatest triumph, when we’re one with Him again.
