In the Prescence of the Lord

Just to be near You my Father and King,

Just to draw close to Your love,

Just to come into Your Presence, Oh Lord;

Thrills me and fills me again.

 

Just to stand in the depth of Your worship,

To soak in the sense of Your love,

Just to be lost in the peace of Your Spirit,

Heals and removes all the pain.

 

Just to submit to Your Lordship,

Just to allow You to rule,

Just to stand, in the flow, of Your precious blood,

Will wash away every foul stain.

 

Just to know without doubt that You love me,

You chose me to be Your own child,

Just to belong to Your family,

Should help me my faith to retain.

 

Daily my faith takes a tumble,

I daily allow it to fall,

And daily You’re patiently waiting,

That I should my footing regain.

 

Daily You stand there beside me,

Just waiting for me to reach out,

And though I may not dare to do so,

You evermore faithful remain.

 

To daily come into Your Presence,

Is a blessing not easy to do;

Yet it’s me that condemns and prevents it,

There’s only a welcome from You.

 

So I tentatively creep and inch forward,

Not boldly step out as You said,

Find only Your love is there waiting,

And nothing to fear or to dread.

 

Oh help me come into Your Presence,

Help me look up at Your face,

Help me to know that You love me,

And help me to live in Your grace.

 

The more I desert and avoid You,

The more that the devil takes hold,

I need to soak in Your teaching,

And to let Your Word make me bold.

 

I need to allow You to love me,

To trust that You never will go,

To trust that You’ll never forsake me,

To know it, ---- because You said so!
