Close of day, close of week, close of month, close of year; With Christ as my Saviour, why then should I fear? The old year is past, its mistakes laid to rest, A new year is waiting and God knows what is best. The future’s ahead like a fresh, clean, new page, And God wants to guide us, through every stage. If we look to His Spirit, the way will be clear, And though problems beset us, we’ll have nothing to fear . A new year’s a challenge, to start once again, A time to lay down, all our heartaches and pain; A time to pick up, once again, God’s strong sword, To make a fresh start in our reading His Word. To take up the challenge, to start life anew, To turn once again, Lord, to focus on You, To know that Your Spirit, will help guide our way, As we strive to grow like You, more every day. A new year brings hope and a new year brings life, An end to the old year of trouble and strife; A time of beginnings, a time of fresh cheer, As we hug one another, and say, "Happy New Year" © 31/12/98
