Tiny little baby, smiling up at me,
Often how I wonder, what you really see.
Do you see your Grandma, smiling down at you?
Or is it just you feel her love, and know that it is true?
Filled with such potential, as you start to grow,
There’s a world of good out there, for you to learn to know.
Blessings God shines on you, like the sun to keep you warm,
And a loving family, to keep you safe from harm.
I will try to teach you, of your God above,
Try to tell His story, and try to share His love;
Lead you in His footsteps, bring you to His throne,
So one day you’ll really know, He chose you for His own.
How I love to hold you, rock you in my arms,
Grandma’s heart’s a flutter, as she falls prey to your charms.
God made babies helpless, to teach us how to care,
Placed His love within our hearts, and taught us how to share.
As you grow to know Him, learn to walk His ways,
He will teach and guide you, lead you all your days;
Dedicated to Him, so your life will be,
Led by what His Spirit says, not just by what you see.
You will learn to love Him, know His gentle voice,
Till the day He calls to you, "It’s time to make your choice.
Time to claim this Saviour, for your very own,
Make your invitation, that He makes your heart His home."
I can share His loving, teach you from His Word,
Sing you songs and read you books, that tell you of my Lord;
And while you are tiny, this will surely do,
But the time will come, my pet, when the choice is up to you.
But for now, my darling, Grandma loves you so,
That her arms are aching, when she has to let you go.
But be sure, my little one, when we are far apart,
That still you’re very close to me, I hold you in my heart.
So know, my darling, Grandson, you are always in my prayer,
Whether you are near at hand, or way off---‘over there’;
And always, you are in my heart, and loved beyond all measure,
Your Father’s pride, your Mother’s joy, and Grandma’s greatest treasure.
