THE FATHER’S HEART
How patiently He unfolds His love, Like a bud unfolding, petal by petal. How gently He woos the child He longs to gather in His arms. No clumsy rush of affection His; No blurted words, to cause a stab of fear. But with the patience of His very attributes He fans the flimsy flame of hope. He takes the hope that barely dares to glow, And blows it with the gentlest whisper of His love. One puff or one thousand times one thousand, It’s all the same to Him, until enough’s enough. And as that flame begins to flicker to a light, It shows a love we never dared to dream. A love that will encompass all our hurts and pain And heal, restore, renew, regrow and clean. Oh, Father heart, that aches and longs for us, Give us the strength to dare to come to You. Help us to reach the point of full surrender, For when we lose ourselves, then are we made complete in You. © 5/12/99 (1am.)
