Lord, I’m told there is a lion, roaring inside me, I look at all my failings, and think this cannot be; Yet Your Spirit comes to bless me, and dwell with me within, The precious Lion of Judah, so pure and free from sin.Your fire burns within me, consuming all my shame, Yet still You must convince me, You’re proud to speak my name. You see no more the blotches, that stained my weary soul, You wait for me to realise, Your blood has made me whole.I see the scars and scratches, because I ‘know’ they’re there, Of Your divine renewing, I need to be aware; You burn out all the horror, the shame of days gone by, Until I see Your healing, You’ll hold me when I cry.You give me grace to travel, so slowly down Your way, Illuminate Your healing, to my spirit, day by day; And You provide a family, who will open up the door, Who’ll help me walk toward Your truth, and learn to trust You more. You have far more endurance, my progress is so slow, You’re tireless in Your loving, till Your love I really know, I think that I have ‘got it’, then I stumble and I fall, And as I lie in shame and tears, it’s Your voice I hear call. You know just how to reach us, so many are in pain, Yet You will not condemn us, because we hurt again, We think we should be stronger; we’ve given it to You, You see the bits we’ve left behind, You’re there to help us through. Our life must be a journey, a means unto an end, And all throughout the journey, our spirit with Yours must blend, As each step brings us closer, to the place You’d have us be, We find wherever we have trod, we walked alongside Thee. And when our steps grew weary, and we could no more stand, ‘Twas then that we were lifted, and carried by Your hand, For never will You leave us, to walk this way alone, You’re always there to guide us, until You bring us home.Oh mighty Lion of Judah, Almighty, Holy God, I tremble when I think You’ve been, wherever I have trod, Your face it shines compassion, it radiates with love, I don’t drag You down here below, -- You lift me, up above. © 5/11/00
