My heart is closed, and shut away,
My lips, they seem afraid to pray;
But I must trust You anyway,
And strive toward You, day by day.
You did not move away from me,
Nor blind my eyes, so I’d not see
Your Words of Truth, which set me free,
And let me tell the devil, "Flee".
For You declare Your love is true,
You’d always have me come to You,
And there is nothing, I might do,
To make You say, "That’s it! We’re through."
You stay the same from age to age,
Just like Your Word upon the page,
Sprung from Your Spirit, not some old sage,
To free us all from satan’s cage.
They’re Words of Love, and Words of Life,
To bring us hope and peace, not strife,
In a world where abuse is often rife,
They teach a man to love his wife.
They tell of our Saviour, and how He is love,
Our perfect Father in heaven above,
His Holy Spirit, portrayed as a dove,
The Three in One, as a hand in a glove.
For every age has its turmoil and pain,
And needs ever reminding, to turn once again,
To our unchanging God, who is ever the same,
And cling to His power, His love, and His Name.
