TEMPEST

We’re tossed upon the sea of life,

Beset by troubles, fear and strife.

Our Saviour bids our soul, "Be calm".

For He can keep us from all harm.

We’re like the twelve amidst the storm,

Feeling lost, alone, forlorn.

Our Saviour bids us, "Turn to Me,

If peace and calm you’d truly see."

Life like a mighty tempest roars,

And sweeps us with it, more and more.

Our Saviour bids us, "Stop." And "Stay."

"Now turn your feet upon My way."

We won’t avoid life’s strife and burl,

We’re called to live within the world.

Our Saviour bids us, "Love like Me,

That all the world My love may see."

REJECTION

Alone he stares into the night,

Alone he contemplates the fight,

Alone he turns the page once more,

Eyes are weary, heart is sore.

Alone he tries to reach the Lord,

Alone he prays with empty words,

Alone he struggles with despair,

Although he knows that God is there.

Alone he feels as if he’s lost,

Alone he knows who paid the cost,

Alone upon the Cross God died,

And for our loneliness He cried.

Of all the things that God could ask,

To love, He gives our only task.

First Him, then any we have known,

Then none would need to feel alone.
