Behind the mask we hide the pain Of all that life has done. And when we face the world again, True feelings show we none. But Jesus sees behind the mask To what we truly feel. The only thing that He will ask, Is that to Him we’re real. If we will give to Him our loss Our hurt and sorrow too; He’ll take and place them on the Cross, As only He can do. And in the place of pain and grief, He’ll give to us His joy, For though "prince" satan is a thief, He’s one defeated boy. For Jesus brings us joy and peace, And patience, love and hope. His endless love will never cease, And safe in Him we’ll cope. Safe in His love we’ll face the past, Remember where we’ve been; Allow Him to remove the mask, And wash our hid wounds clean. And as His soothing balm’s applied To all that gives us pain; We’ll start to see where satan lied And hear the truth again. We’re truly worth His gift of love, T’was for this end He died. Our Father, gazing from above For us, not Him – He cried. For though He felt His Son’s great pain, And had not wished it so, He longed to share with us again That love we used to know. That love will last for evermore, From end of time to end; How else could God mankind assure, Except His Son He send? He took the mask from His own face And sent His Son divine; That looking round the human race, We’d see His love sublime. ©
