None so faithful as a friend,
Always loving, to the end,
Unconditional love of God,
That’s what we saw, in Gemma-dog
Tail a-wagging, full of fun,
All day long, till setting sun,
Ever friendly, keen to please,
Our Gemma-dog, was one of these.
Swift of foot, how fast she ran,
Chasing seagulls on the sand,
Other dogs got a quick ‘hello’,
Then Gemma-dog, well off she’d go.
More to see and more to do,
”I can’t stop still to talk with you,
See, there’s my Mum, my Gran and friend”,
Then Gemma-dog was off again.
Playing soccer with her Dad,
Leaping, twisting, just so glad,
She’d chosen him, he’d chosen her,
To Gemma-dog, he was her world.
She’d curl upon his lap at night,
And snuggle in with all her might,
But when he had to go away,
Our Gemma said, “Well, Mum’s okay”.
She gave us hope and love and cheer,
She was loved by all, she was such a dear,
Her passing leaves so many sad,
But she died in her sleep, and for that, we’re glad.
So Gemma-dog, run swift, run free,
On heavenly sand, by heavenly sea,
Run on the grass, and swim in the lake,
And we will feel comfort, and joy for your sake.
Free from aches or any pain,
Ready to greet us, when we meet again,
We knew it was time, we’d to let you go,
Dear Gemma-dog, we have loved you so.
