Jesus tells us, that He is the Bread of Life, and in Psalm 34:8 we are told "Taste and see, that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that takes refuge in Him.". We need to become aware that we need our Spiritual food daily, just as much as we need physical food. This poem speaks of a Spiritual hunger.

HUNGER
Dear Lord, I am starving, starving for You,
Hungry to hear all You say and You do.
Longing to cling to You all through the night,
Safe in Your arms, I know all will be right.
Years I have fasted, not knowing my need,
Content just to nibble, but never to feed.
To snack on the floss and the sweetmeats, instead
Of the true Staff of Life, Your Word, my daily bread.
Dear Lord, You are waiting to give me my food,
To fill up my mind with all things that are good.
To teach me, to show me, to wrap me in love,
To lift my soul high, as the heavens above.
Years You have waited, in patient delay,
For this child to listen, to what You would say.
To give me the food that I needed to live,
Till I learned to accept, all that You had to give.
Dear Lord, I rejoice that your timing is best,
You know when I must strive, and when I must rest,
The longings my heart cannot bear to express,
When I ask for Your Spirit, You will always say, "Yes".
You always will listen, You always will hear,
Whenever I want it, You’ll always draw near,
If I ask for aught wrongly, You may well say "No",
