Opinions
Why so downcast, oh, my soul? Know you not Who makes you whole? Why allow man’s words to jar? Cast your sorrows, from you, far. God’s opinion, holds you high, He would ever have you nigh, Though harsh words may make you hide, He would call you, to His side. You must choose what you will hear, Whose opinion draws you near, Chose the words that feed your soul, Words of Life, that make you whole. All around is fear and strife, Words of death, that steal your life, In the Word of God, is health, His great love, is your great wealth. Draw upon His Word, this day, Let Him teach you what to say, How to lift a spirit high, How to satan’s words deny. All too often, in the world, Harsh words, all around, are hurled; Criticism can tear down - Spoken out with grumpy frown. Words of love can still correct. Correction, given with respect Will lift a soul and edify, Not tear it down and make it cry. Whom God loves, He will chastise, But He’ll also dry our eyes, Take our hand, and gently show Us the way, that we should go. When our lives, to Him we give, He will teach us how to live, Set our feet upon His track, Warn us, ‘There’s no looking back." The past is gone, we’re creatures new, And God, in us, can start to do His work to change and heal our mind, To grow like Him; true, just, and kind. In glory, more and more we grow, And more like Him, as more we know Of how our God, would have us be, The more we look, the more we see. For He will open up our eyes, To satan’s wiles, and satan’s lies, He’ll speak His truth into our life, To bring us peace in place of strife. © 5-7/2/05
