Lord, I never knew the child, That You had planned for me, The devil stole his life away, Before his face I’d see. But seeing is not needed, For a mother’s love to grow, The moment that a life’s conceived. The seed of love You sow. A mother’s tears, a mother’s love, A mother’s aching heart, They do not wait until he’s born, They’re there right from the start. And they are not forgotten, These ones who never grew, They’re ever in the Father’s heart, And in His love so true; They’re ever in the memory, Of their mother, and their dad, And knowing they’re in Jesu’s care, Can help them feel less sad. For God has gathered in His arms, These ones untouched by sin, He opened wide, the heavenly gates, And bade them, “Come right in. Come here My dears, and wait with Me, Together we’ll gaze below, And when your parents do arrive, Then each of them you’ll know. And they will know you by the love, That in their hearts they bore, Their love and faith, that God would keep, Their little ones secure.” So those who did not know their child, Upon this earth so fair, Take comfort that you’ll meet above, When Jesus calls you there, You’ll know, and love, and join again, In Heaven’s fairest place, You’ll see your child, you’ll know their love, In God’s abiding grace. © 9/5/08
Lord, I never knew the child, That You had planned for me, The devil stole his life away, Before his face I’d see.
