Faith and hope are somersaulting With doubt and fear. Prayers rise up in me Fear shouts them down. Voices tumble through my brain Whispering, shouting. Pleading, cajoling, encouraging, Taunting, teasing tearing. Lord I know whom I have believed, "Do you?" says a voice, "Are you sure?" Christ is my refuge. Lord, the waves lap over my head, Deafen my ears. Touch me when I cannot hear, Whisper within my heart. Waiting is an eternity, Silence feeds fears, Logic feeds doubts, Lord, feed my faith. The Lord is my shepherd, His will shall prevail. I will trust in the Lord, I will trust my God. Ringing phone, running feet, Good news, Small steps Bring great praise. God is good, Patient, kind, Understanding doubts and fears. Not chastising, simply loving. Thank You Lord, For being God. Knowing me Yet loving still. Thank You Lord For bringing peace, So gentle, so strong, Precious Holy Spirit, Praise You. © Ailsa Yates 4/3/97
