God Understands

Weary with a heavy load?
Bowed down with every care?
Don’t think that you are all alone,
We have a God Who’ll share.

He knows the pain you’re going through ,
He sees your aching heart,
And in your healing comfort now,
He wants to play His part.

He came to earth but as a child,
Like each of us, He grew,
And all life’s trials, pains and grief,
He suffered and He knew.

He bore our sin, He bore our pain,
When on the Cross He died,
And as the tears flowed freely down,
It was for us He cried.

He knew we still would suffering know,
Though He had overcome,
That moment on the Cross He cried,
"It’s over. It is done."

So when your heart is weary,
And you think you cannot cope,
Remember you’ve a Saviour
Who died to give you hope.

He knelt there in the Garden,
Thinking He could face no more,
But strengthened by His God in prayer,
He bowed His head once more.

He thought of all the people,
That after Him would come,
He knelt there in the Garden,
And He saw us one by one.

He said unto His Father,
"Let Me only do Your will",
And He opened up the doorway,
Through which we can come still.

We come before the Father’s throne,
Knowing Christ has paid the way,
And as we come to judgement,
Close beside us, Christ will stay.

"This one is Mine, oh Father",
We will hear our Lawyer claim,
"I paid for them upon the Cross,
And they have claimed My Name.

I know the things they suffered,
But I have overcome,
And their salvation is assured,
By the deed which I have done.

Though satan may accuse them,
Though he may rant and roar.
My Blood has washed them clean again,
And they are Mine for sure.

So open up Your arms, My God,
And welcome them inside,
For I Am Christ, Your risen Son,
And cannot be denied.

And they are all My trophy,
Whom I won upon the Cross,
My Blood has claimed them for My own,
I will not suffer loss.

I claim them for Your Kingdom,
I name these souls as Mine,
And if these souls are Mine, My Lord,
Then truly, they are Thine."

So lift your heart now Christian,
It’s time to make the choice,
To praise Him through your suffering,
To praise Him with your voice.

He understands our suffering,
And He can sympathise,
But He has overcome the world,
And bids us lift our eyes.

To lift our eyes above this world,
To the Saviour we can see,
He said, "If I be lifted up,
I will draw all men to Me."

So as we lift our eyes to Him,
Out hearts will also rise,
And we will see God’s love for us,
Blaze from our Saviour’s eyes.
