The last poem for the year, good to start and finish our day/week/year with the Lord.

YEAR’S END
Look back on this year – and what do we see?
The hate in the world, - or the love that’s in Thee?
The world offers fear, acts of terror and war,
In You there is hope, peace and joy, and much more!!
We can’t add an inch by our worry and fret,
Stress steals days; not adds them, - as fearful we get.
Our days are in Your hands, our lifetimes as well,
You conquered already, and saved us from hell.
If we must look back on the year that is done,
We must look at the battles, in You, we have won.
To think on the blessings, that You have bestowed,
And see You’ve been with us, each step of the road.
The times that You led us, though we knew it not,
Until You revealed it, and Your message we got.
We need know in our hearts, and our minds and our soul,
That You will stay faithful, till we reach Your goal.
We must cease in our striving, lean fully on You,
And learn to be led, in all that we do.
Let Your Spirit guide us, and lead us each day,
Trusting His wisdom, to show us the way.
A new year brings promise, fresh hope and fresh cheer,
A chance to start over, - do better this year.
Dear Lord, be there with us, to guide us anew,
For though the year’s new, it’s no good without You.
Wherever we go, Lord, we pray it’s with You,
May the things we pursue be those You’d have us do.
May our ears be attuned, and our eyes opened wide,
May we ever be willing, to let Your Spirit guide.
At each new beginning, may we stop and pray,
‘Oh, Lord, re-assure us, that this is Your way.’
And when we are certain, let nothing prevent
Us spreading Your message, and why You were sent.
Lord, lead us and guide us, and use us we plead,
Not just as we’d choose, but where You see the need.
Lord, nudge us, and prod us, and if needed shout,
For only in Your strength, can we get Your Word out.
And Lord, please remember, You promised to stay,
Close by us forever, and love us each day.
For only as you pour Your love in our heart,
Can we pour it out, and Your forest fire start.
So, Lord, as this year, to an end now draws nigh,
I pour out this poem, as my own heart’s cry;
Hold me close, love me strong, guide my steps every day,
Show me Lord, help me Lord, in Your plan, my part play.
Amen
