  War Is Brutal – Lest We Forget !

Remember the days when we were young,
And up the beach we sped,
And the sergeant yelled, “Now, come on lads”,
As the sand with our blood ran red?

And how many prayers were hurriedly prayed,
To a God whom we’d often ignored,
Who came to us then, with His comfort and strength,
As He promised He would in His word.

“I never will leave you, I’ll never forsake,
Any soul who will call on My Name,
The world will remember your brave sacrifice,
I gave My life, and you’ll do the same.

You’ll lay down your lives, that the world might be free,
You’ll struggle, you’ll fight and you’ll die,
And back in your homelands, I’m sorry to say,
Your loved ones will mourn you and cry.

For war’s not the answer, no, not with the flesh,
With your brothers and sisters in Me,
For you look, and you see, only those you must kill,
While on both sides, My children I see.

But those who survive and return to their home,
Must teach to their children, and all,

That war is not glory, it’s anger and hate,
And heartbreak, when comrades dead fall.

You watched all around you, your mates being killed,
As Peter watched Me led away,
And your heart and your mind, will never erase,
All the horrors you saw on that day.

So remember the fallen, and all they have done,
Remember the gift you all gave,
But remember, I came, and I lay down My life,
That all of mankind I might save.

And honour your dead, and your wounded so brave,
And the heroes who came through alive,
But teach to the world, that war is no fun,
And it’s better for My way to strive.

To live for each other, in My peace and love,
To fight against evil and sin,
To stand for what’s right, and oppose all that’s wrong,
It’s a ‘war’ that I say you will win. “
